Κοινωνια - Good News!

That strange looking word (pronounced coin-ow-nia) from the language the New Testament was first written in. It might look a bit strange, but, of the four things that the early church was renown for, it was the LOVE thing! Acts 2:42 says, They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching (God’s Word) and to fellowship (Κοινωνια), to the breaking of bread (Holy Communion), and to prayer. But the fellowship wasn’t just having a cuppa together. It was the gutsy stuff of sacrifice for each other – sharing their worldly goods with each other so that no one was missing out! Verse 45 says, selling their possessions and goods, they gave to everyone as he had need. What a powerful and attractive way to share the love of God!

I saw this love in action over the past two weeks as one of our new members coor-dinated a huge response for you to help someone in need.
